The Susquehanna River Archaeological Center (SRAC) is a 501c3, (nonprofit organization) and all of our funding comes from our membership, the revenues that we  can generate at the Center, and  donations from philanthropic organizations and generous individuals like you. (None of our funding goes towards salaries as SRAC is staffed totally by volunteers and open 5 days a week.) We see your dollar donated to SRAC as an investment in our community. As you learn more about SRAC, we trust that you will too. Donations to SRAC are tax deductible and can be made online or sent via check to SRAC Donations, 345 Broad Street, Waverly, NY 14892.

Donate a Items for Resale:
Items for Resale: Certain items donated to SRAC (non artifact donations!) can be resold by SRAC to raise funds. From items that we can resell in our gift shop, at the Crooked River Antique Co-op, at auction, to eBay, SRAC would be happy to talk to you about items that you may want to donate to SRAC for resale. Once items are sold, we will provide documentation of the resale value tax purposes. Please talk to your accountant for additional information concerning the tax deductions available for the items that you want to donate.

Donate a  Local Collection:
Since 2005, SRAC has received 38 collections and thousands of local Native American artifacts.

The VanWinkle/SRAC collection! A huge Cayuga pot dated approximately from 1350 - 1450 A.D.! (Ron and Don VanWinkle picture sits beside their pot in the SRAC Exhibit Hall.)

SRAC supports our local collectors.
We hope that our local collectors continue to fieldwalk and enjoy their collections. Without them, we would have very little evidence of our Native Indian past left in our community. All we ask is that they consider planning ahead by keeping records of where your artifacts were found. As many of you already know, many of our local collections have been lost in the past by ending up not being recorded or even worse sold at auction houses at which point they were lost forever.

SRAC was founded to allow our private collectors a place where their collections can be housed in their name forever when they are ready to consider a new home for them at some point. To consider the community’s need to be able to see them and learn about our Native Indian past, and to allow more research to continue.

handimage_smallestFor these reasons, SRAC will accept private collections (artifacts, books, maps, etc) or will work with collectors for a future donation of a collection and will preserve and use them to benefit the community in the education of our local history for many generations to come. If you are considering a future donation, you can download our deed of gift form and can even fill it out and just keep it with your private documents for a later date.
