Donations
SRAC is in need of help to build it's Learning Center. Please help us to preserve our artifacts and other evidences that represent thousands of years of our local Native Indian history. When you donate to SRAC, you can consider your contribution as a gift to generations to come.

Donate a Local Collection:
SRAC is proud to announce that Dick Cowles
was the first collector to donate his whole collection (rare books and artifacts) to SRAC! Click here to see his collection!
The Safford Family of Waverly, NY donated Bernie Safford's collection to SRAC in
2006! Bernie had always wanted to share his collection with children, and we
have respected his wishes. Some of Bernie's collection is already on display and
being used to teach Sayre Elementary children and will be used for more
educational/learning activities in the future!
SRAC supports our local collectors.
We hope that our local collectors continue to fieldwalk and enjoy their collections. Without them, we would have very little evidence of our Native Indian past left in our community. All we ask is that they consider planning ahead. As many of you already know, many of our local collections have been lost in the past by ending up at auction houses at which point they were lost forever.
SRAC was founded for this very purpose - to allow our private collectors a place where their collections can be housed in their name forever when they are ready to consider a new home for them at some point. To consider the community's need to be able to see them and learn about our Native Indian past, and to allow more research to continue.
For these reasons, SRAC will accept private collections (artifacts, books, etc) or will work with collectors for a future donation of a collection and will preserve and use them to benefit the community in the education of our local history for many generations to come.
Note: It is important that you are able to say where the artifacts were found if donating a collection of artifacts.
Did you know that the collectors that donate their collections to SRAC can get a tax break?
Tax Deductions:
A charitable contribution is a donation or gift to, or for the use of, a qualified organization. It is voluntary and is made without getting, or expecting to get, anything of equal value.
SRAC - A Qualified Organization. Qualified organizations include nonprofit groups that are religious, charitable, educational, scientific, or literary in purpose, or that work to prevent cruelty to children or animals. They also have to make sure that if anything happens to their organization, that these assets will stay in non-profit hands. SRAC is committed to ensuring the collections left to us, will remain safe, stay local, and be recognized as the collection of the donator for all time.
About Tax Deductions:
To deduct a charitable contribution, you must file Form 1040 and itemize deductions on Schedule A. (The amount of your deduction may be limited if certain rules and limits apply to you.)
About Making Contributions to a Non-Profit Organization:
- Charitable Contributions: IRS - Publication 526
- Non-Cash Contributions: IRS Form 8283
